should i get it?
i was thinking of buying guild wars, and i wanted to know.
i have a 700mhz PIII computer witha geforce 4 mx 4000 and soon ot have 256MB of system RAM with windows XP. i know it's only 700Mhz, but most other games that require and 800Mhz processor work on my computer without a glitch. would this one? also, the major deciding factor on whether or not i buy this game is the combat system. is it slo turn based, like final fantasy? or is it fast turn based like Runescape or Neverwinter Nights? is it run and hack and slash like Champions of Norrath? or is it run and hack and slash like Jedi Academy? im probably not going to come back and search for my thread, so just PM me if you want to answer my questions. |

It's not turn based at all, it's real time combat. I'm not sure if that 700 mhz and 256mb ram can handle it though. You wouldn't have to look long for the thread; should be right near the front. And I refuse to PM you Mr. McLazypants.

I'd think that even with graphics turned way down that would be a slow system to run it on. What is your internet connection speed?
I have 2 systems and the older one is I think a celeron 1.1/1.3 with 384 ram and a 128mb video card and other than some slower loading times plays fine. We have DSL. Guild Wars is designed to even run on a 56k modem and I've had guildies use them successfully. Updates can take a while to stream though. |

I have an old PIII 500 in my basement with 512 ram and its able to run the game but at a very low resolutions.
You will be able to run it, but it will be slow and loading times will be long. |

I think your ram might be a problem... I run it at the lowest settings for everything (I envy those with full graphics), and it uses around 220 ram. Add other crucial system resources, and you are cutting it mighty fine.
I have a 2.4 Ghz P4 with 512 ram, and a mobility (laptop) graphics card, and again, all the lowest game settings. I still have lag on occasion, especially when there is alot of other activity happening. Like a crowded town, or the initial monster spawn in Urgoz. Just an opinion though. |
